Presumptive Nominee

I was thinking about taking a page from Tom DeLay and start calling John McCain the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party. For example, “Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain is trying to escalate the war in Iraq.” It’s a meme that screams unappealing to me.

…Adding, I don’t think I’d go so far in my DeLay mimicry as to say that McCain will be the next president and his election will ensure that the war in Iraq continues at least until 2012. That’s downright scary.
