Singer notes that no Republican candidate breaks 20% in the Iowa poll – a sign that this race is wide open and no one is really winning over Republican voters just yet. Singer also thinks that Gingrich is a stronger candidate than Conventional Wisdom paints him as. I can see that; Gingrich is repeatedly showing up in the top four in polls of Republican voters.

It’s still way too early to give much credence to these polls, though. Brownback and Huckabee aren’t going to stay at 1%. Giuliani will fall as people realize he was mayor of New York before 9/11/01. Rice is a fantasy candidate and McCain will face more and more sniping by lower-tier candidates once his entry is official. Oh and more than one in five Republican voters in Iowa are undecided.

In short, these numbers will change.

Is Rice a fantasy candidate because Laura Bush sez she won’t run (”no immediate family”) or because Barbara Boxer called her out for being barren?

Fantasy candidate because she has no inclination to run.

Though Teddy is right to remind us that Rice can’t run because she has no family and one needs family according to LauraBot.

Touche, MBH.

That whole Boxer-Rice thing was so overblown and completely taken out of context in every shape of the word.

Something to say?
