Former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson is in Iowa campaigning for the Republican nomination and said that he has added $1 million raised since his January 5 event that raised $1 million as well.
The former Health and Human Services secretary had this to say about the recent vote to allow government negotiation for lower drug prices:
He campaigns on his record as President Bush’s health secretary, including his push for the Medicare drug program.
But Thompson takes issue with last week’s House vote to let the government negotiate with drug makers to bring those costs down. He says private competition is keeping costs down. And because seniors like the program, Thompson says there’s no need for another federal bureaucracy to handle price negotiations.

Something to say?

If Thompson keeps this pace up, he should be able to run with McCain, Romney, and Giuliani.
Remember he’ll need about $25 million a quarter this year to be a contender.
