Mark your calendars:

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) told a group of reporters this morning that if he’s still considered a second-tier candidate by September, “then he’ll rethink his candidacy,” reports The Hotline.

He pointed to the Iowa straw poll in August “as the first benchmark where he said he’ll have to do ‘better than expected.’”

That’s one Friedman Unit from now. Of course, what separates Huckabee’s campaign related F.U. from all the assertions of F.U.s from Friedman, Biden, Casey, and Khalilzad uses of the F.U. on Iraq is that Huckabee has a metric for success that will actually still be there six months from now. People will notice what happens in the Iowa straw poll and candidates’ performances will have consequences.
