A video of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani surfaced on YouTube today where he spoke in favor of public funding of abortions for poor women. In the clip, then-mayoral challenger Giuliani expressed his opposition to then-President George H.W. Bush’s veto of public financing for abortions.
The clip, lasting only 28 seconds long, is from his first, and successful, campaign for mayor, dated November 3, 1989. He lost to Democrat David Dinkins by 47,000 votes. Four years later, in a rematch, Giuliani won with a margin of 53,000 votes.

“There must be public funding for abortion for poor women.”
“I have also started that I disagree with President Bush’s veto last week of public funding for abortion.”
