The nonpartisan government watchdog Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission regarding Duncan Hunter’s Peace Through Strength PAC illegal expenditures in support of Hunter’s presidential campaign.

CREW says Hunter broke the law by promoting “his candidacy by running advertisements with money he both raised and spent illegally,” exceeding the amount he was allowed to spend on political advertising as an unannounced candidate, receiving contributions to PTS PAC in excess of the $2,300 cap for presidential candidates, and receiving in-kind donations from PTS PAC in the form of political advertisements in excess of the amount allowed for PACs to give to presidential campaigns.

You can read CREW’s press release, which includes more details about the complaint against Hunter, here. Also, I posted on Hunter’s suspect advertisements last month
