The following events take place between 8:24:01am and 8:24:59am.
In his final push before the end of the fundraising quarter, former Governor Mike Huckabee sent out an e-mail entitled “24″ in a shameless attempt to tap into the conservative popularity of FOX’s 24. The former governor even took the time to explain it to those fortunate enough never to have seen the show.
The hit show “24″ is about the action taking place in a 24 hour time frame. At the campaign, we’re in our own version of “24″ as we seek to show support in the first quarter reports of the reporting period in the Presidential race.
Huckabee informs supporters of the hard-knock life on the campaign trail for the Huckabee ‘08 staff to “put the focus on good stewardship of contributions.” Translation: People are not donating that much and we need your money!
From this moment until the end of Saturday, everyone on our team is focused on trying to help us reach a target goal in critical startup funds for the campaign. For starting less than 2 months ago with a zero balance (we could not transfer PAC funds for example), no staff, no headquarters, no printed materials, etc., to a vibrant and alive operation has been nothing short of amazing. People on our team are each having to do the work of 2 people so we get maximum output from minimum numbers of staffers. We have several people who have come to work without pay–we are providing “frat house” type living arrangements and assisting with food (paper bag lunches to be exact).
Our travel is done on the “spartan” style of using websites to get lowest cost coach seats on commercial flights, taking overnight red-eye flights to get cheap seats and travel and sleep at the same time so not to lose money or time, and staying in the lowest cost places (some are TOO LOW!) just to put the focus on good stewardship of contributions.
Oh the humanity! Also, did you catch that swipe at frat houses around the country? Apparently Huckabee is not gunning for the youth vote since Mitt Romney seems to have cornered that market.
I’ve had many moments the past 2 months when I wondered if it was worth it—once while eating for the first time in 6 days on a real plate with real tableware and not airport food on paper plates with plastic utensils I asked myself “why?”
The chicks, right? Chicks dig the power.
Then I thought about how much this country has done for me and how important it is that we do for it.
Or that.
Jack Bauer is not available to help us, but I’d rather have YOUR help than a fictional TV hero anyday!
At this point, it is quite surprising that the GOP candidates have not sought the 24-endorsement — yet. Can you imagine that commercial? “24 loves us, Jack Bauer approved!”

In a recent poll of Iowa GOP county chairs, I finished ahead of so-called “front-runners” Rudy Guiliani and John McCain in their picks of who they feel is “ahead.” That’s despite the millions others have spent hiring and organizing and with my limited visits so far there. We are gaining serious traction in New Hampshire—a recent visit saw packed audiences who enthusiastically joined our team, with one long-time veteran of numerous political campaigns in the Granite State saying that she hadn’t seen that kind of enthusiasm and interest in years. In South Carolina, Mrs. Carroll Campbell, widow of the late Governor Carroll Campbell, and without a doubt the most respected political family in the Palmetto State has agreed to be our honorary chair, and her son Mike will head up our operations there and serve as senior national advisor.
We get great feedback from national media appearances ranging from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Imus in the Morning, to Meet the Press and This Week with George Stephanopoulos. The message of my book, “From Hope to Higher Ground,” is getting positive reviews and reactions as a truly different kind of approach to the problems we face as a nation.
Saturday night marks the deadline for contributions that will be reported in the first quarter. Many of you have already given the federal maximum contribution of $2300 per person ($4600 per couple) for the primary and cannot legally give more. You perhaps can forward this email and your own appeal to everyone on YOUR email list and ask them to join you on the Huckabee team.
If you have not contributed or have, but could stretch a bit more and add something in the next 24 hours, I would like to ask you to do it. While I might be a bit forward in asking, I do so because I believe in what I’m doing and don’t see anyone else running that truly represents an authentic and consistent conservative set of principles.
To make a contribution of $15, $25, $50, $100, $500 or even $1,000 click here.
As I told a prominent Dallas business leader this week when he asked why I was running, “I don’t want to wake up in 20 years and ask myself why I didn’t do more to make America a better and safer place.” (By the way, he committed to support me with a maximum contribution and help in the future with fundraising)

If you can contribute anything at all the next 24 hours, please do so. In order for us to actually receive it by the first quarter deadline, the best way to give is online at our website: www.explorehuckabee.com.
Go to the “CONTRIBUTE” section on the homepage and follow the instructions to give online using a secure site for credit card transactions.
Sure, it would be great if every person receiving this contributed $2300 per person, but only a few receiving this can do that. Many can give $1000, others $500, most $100, and about everyone can give an online contribution of $50 or even $25.
Janet has been on the phone after work everyday and frankly is doing a much better job than me of getting the job done! I’m proud of her efforts and the commitment that she and my entire family has made. All the kids are actually raising money from their own networks of friends and all are committed to the effort.
Thanks for your prayers for us, your support, and I hope your financical contribution today.

Visit www.explorehuckabee.com and make your contribution in the next “24.”
With deep gratitude,
Governor Mike Huckabee

Poor Huck is right, guy gets very little respect for being a rather likeable person (’cmon, he can jam on the bass!).
I’d love to see some more Republican’s trying to latch on to “24″ because Keifer Sutherland is easily more liberal than he is conservative and I actually think the show leans that way for the most part.
begging ain’t pretty. pols or winos. bbbbbbbbb
[...] you thought Mike Huckabee’s 24 e-mail on the eve of the first quarter fundraising deadline was lame, you are in for quite a treat with [...]
Something to say?

Poor Huck – Jack Bauer won’t help him save the day. Oh god, it’s so painful.
