In this video, John McCain continues to demonstrate the subtle leadership he feels best qualifies him to lead the nation:

It actually reminds me of something McCain said once back in his original straight talk days:

“What would you do if something happened to Greenspan?” a reporter drilled John McCain during the primaries. “Well,” said the Senator, “I’d put sunglasses on him and prop him up like that guy in Weekend at Bernie’s.”

Only instead of being funny, this is a horrendously inflammatory comment towards a country and area of the world that already has a rather active dislike for us.

Here’s the SF Chronicle article on McCain’s joking about starting WWIII.

In response to an audience question about military action against Iran, the Arizona senator briefly sang the chorus of the surf-rocker classic “Barbara Ann.”

“That old, eh, that old Beach Boys song, Bomb Iran,” he said in jest Wednesday, chuckling with the crowd. Then, he softly sang to the melody: “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, anyway, ah …” The audience responded with more laughter.

Hat tip to TeddySanFran.

my god, lightennnnn uppppppp…….

if this is all the left can do to attack the far more qualified leaders on the republican side, then 2008 is going to be a big upset for all of them. come on lefites, explain how a first lady, a former muslim, or a trial laywer are more qualified to make military strategy then mccain, come on try, i need a few good laughs.

Yeah, I mean if McCain can’t joke about starting a war all the fun of presidential politics is lost.

what? no answer? no explanation of how b. hussein, clinton, or edwards are more qualified to make military decisions then mccain? didnt think so..

You’re right – no answer. Because we’re not blogging about Democratic candidates here. Find me a post where we spend our time talking about the positive attributes of the Democratic candidates on this site. You can’t. Why? Not because we are incapable of pointing them out in relation to GOP candidates, but because…wait for it….wait for it…(I think you know what’s coming, matt)…we write a blog about the Republican presidential primary.

Not the 2009 presidential election. Not the 2008 Democratic primary.

Please stop trying to change what this blog is about – you will continue to fail.

But if you want to talk about military decision making qualifications, then you will clearly concede that McCain is the most qualified candidate in the Republican field. He’s the only veteran and the only guy who’s served in a war, IIRC. How can you possibly think Giuliani, Romney, or Gingrich can be more trusted than McCain to make military decisions?

You can’t. Ipso facto you should support John McCain.

Something to say?
