Mitt Romney topped the list of Republican candidates in a recent Iowa poll, reports the Des Moines Register.
Rudy Giuliani fell to third. (Insert long, diatribe from “lower case matt” here.)
Check out the numbers below.
Some interesting things to note: former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson bagged fifth. Apparently likely Iowa caucus voters like a guy that forgets to turn on his hearing aid nor remember to take a whiz before an hour-and-a-half long debate.
John Cox, who was barred from participating in the debates and launched a campaign in an unsuccessful attempt to join the other candidates, bought 1% of the vote — tying with former Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore and California Congressman Duncan Hunter.
Ron Paul, who was slandered by FOX News recently, failed to register any significant support — which is a real shame. I personally do not agree with much of Paul’s politics but I have a tremendous amount of respect for the congressman. His candidacy really shows the historical shift from what post-WWII Republicanism was and what post-9/11 Republicans turned it into. With that in mind, check out Andrew Sullivan’s Sunday column for the London Times.
Something to say?
