From yesterday’s Mitt Romney e-mail to supporters comparing “The Romney Vision” with that of Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois):
Sen. Obama Blames America For Carbon Emissions, And Calls For Enacting A Cap-And-Trade System. “As the world’s largest producer of greenhouse gases, America has the responsibility to lead. While many of our industrial partners are working hard to reduce their emissions, we are increasing ours at a steady clip – by more than ten percent per decade. As president, I intend to enact a cap-and-trade system that will dramatically reduce our carbon emissions.” (Sen. Barack Obama, “Renewing American Leadership,” Foreign Affairs, July/August 2007) [link added]
According to the United Nations, the United States has the highest level of carbon emissions of any country in the world. (Yet another example of the U.N.’s “anti-Americanism,” ey right-wing?)
Now, take out your position on a cap-and-trade system and logically look at the charge. Romney is attacking Obama for stating a fact that happens to reflect poorly on the U.S.
As Stephen Colbert would say, Barack Obama made the common mistake of looking that up in a book. Mitt Romney looked it up in his gut.
In his quest for the nomination, Romney is playing to the base’s fixation with American exceptionalism by invoking the age-old “blame America first” line.
Up next from Mitt Romney’s bag of misplaced outrage: “Barack Obama says your shit stinks.” (More on the e-mail and “Romney’s Vision” later.)

Something to say?

Interesting that he’s choosing to go after Obama as though they’ve each already won the primary. Looks like he’s calculated that McCain and Giuliani are their own worst enemies, he couldn’t possibly do any more damage to them than they have already done to themselves. And I guess he figures, what better way to rile up support than attack them crazy libruhls.
