Brownback is going to offer a “political plan to create a create a 3-state plan in Iraq” tomorrow? Welcome to the frackin party, senator, Biden’s been saying that for months. Interesting that Brownback’s jumping on the reality-based there-is-no-military-solution-in-Iraq train.
Where is the discussion of Ron Paul. He is for free markets, limited government, small taxes, non-interventionism, liberty, liberty, liberty, privacy, states rights, and the US Constitution. Isn’t that the conservative position? Or wasn’t it before the neocons got a taste of power and expanded the government.
For the true classic Jeffersonian, this is the most honest candidate who is not a carbon copy of what is not working. He has been in Congress for over a decade. Check his voting record. He is the ONLY candidate that we can trust to do what he says he will because he has been doing it since the 1970s.
Ron Paul is also the smartest candidate and understand economics, free markets, the dangers of the fed, and has voted against any curtailment of individual liberties.
That used to be important to Americans. I hope it still is. Our soldiers died to protect our liberty and freedom, not to nation build. So let’s respect the troops. Go Ron Paul!

Good point about Paul, Jennifer, except that he voted against going into Iraq because conservatism used to preach non-interventionism. Yet your words seem to betray a support of the war. I have to ask, how did going into Iraq protect our freedom or our liberty? how did Saddam Hussein, or how does any terrorist threaten our liberty? Is our liberty so fragile? They want to kill us, not take over our country. They’re not going to enslave us. I never did get this “our troops are fighting for our freedom” whether it was a Republican saying it or Randy Rhodes saying it. How exactly did 9/11 threaten my freedoms except in that George Bush used it to take them away?
speaking of brown people, what’s up with Romney’s tan?
I just wish that someone would discuss the difference between statists and non-statists. The true right used to be non-statist believing in a limited government. Now the “Republican” platform is one of unlimited trust in government and using government to solve all our problems. Ron Paul is the only non-statist candidate on either side. For those of us who want limited government, Ron Paul is our only choice.
Matt - don’t forget that if you immigrate into this country you better cut off all ties to your disgusting family back home, forget your original language, and become a good little English only speaking citizen.
I don’t believe McCain used Giuliani’s much maligned “I think it’s fine” in response to the question of whether English should be the official language. He actually makes a good case for why it’s problematic, but to start out with that language…dumb.
I wouldn’t call it “unlimited trust in government.” there are some serious mixed messages going on. while certainly the Bush regime asks us to “trust” them when it comes to invading our liberties and invading other countries in the name of “protecting” us, but domestically they rely on currying DIStrust with the federal government by filling it with unqualified cronies whose inevitable failure and/or corruption becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of the distrust conservatives have with of govt. Which really only serves to make the case for electing Democrats. Everybody relies on government for something, whether you like it or not. Who are you going to choose to manage it? The party that has faith and trust in government.
What exactly did Huckabee mean when he said there were “probably plenty of choices” if the American people wanted a president who doesn’t believe in God? pray tell, who might that be, guvn’r?
just got to part 2 — interesting that McCain was the first to do the Clinton stand up when talking to the people thing. it works for him. makes him look the most presidential so far.
ahh, Giuliani just got up too. and he called the guy who served in Iraq by his first name. very Clintonian.
on healthcare, the reliance on private insurance and the free market on that stage is truly astounding. the success of these companies depends on providing coverage as seldom as possible. and putting profit at the heart of healthcare? essentially mandating that a child who happens to have been born into poverty rather than wealth have less access to preventive care? unacceptable.
Tommy Thompson criticized the Republican party for not coming up with new ideas even as he used McCain’s trite “we went to congress to change Washington, Washington changed us.” no new ideas indeed.
and what was that whole ending cancer thing Brownback went on about? hey, I’m all for it but it seemed fairly out of context. made him sound like the crazy old guy in the corner who answers questions from an hour ago.
