Well, I stand corrected — Mitt Romney does indeed have a Big Idea. In a move sure to thrill a party full of nation-building enthusiasts and avid supporters of massive foreign-aid budgets, Romney will propose a “Marshall plan” for the Middle East when he speaks to the American Enterprise Institute tonight:

Romney will call for a partnership that “would assemble resources from developed nations to work to assure that threatened Islamic states had public schools, not Wahhabi madrassas, micro-credit and banking, the rule of law, human rights, basic healthcare, and competitive economic policies.”

Credit where due: Mitt’s thinking big. Of course, one wonders how the United States will go about imposing “the rule of law” and “competitive economic policies” on countries like Egypt, Saudia Arabia, and Pakistan. By offering them even more money than we already send them?
