The latest Q-poll shows “stunning gains” for Fred Thompson in three key primary states, as the former lobbyist cut deeply into Rudy Giuliani’s lead in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

The Florida numbers will be particularly worrying to the Giuliani camp:

Thompson’s surge in Florida represents a real threat to Giuliani, said University of Virginia professor Larry Sabato. “The Giuliani campaign has considered Florida its firewall,” Sabato said.

Giuliani’s strategy is to post a big win in delegate-rich Florida – where a lot of retired New Yorkers live – if he fares poorly in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, where Mitt Romney leads in polls.

Quinnipiac pollster Peter Brown speculates about what’s happening:

“Perhaps his much- discussed difference with the GOP mainstream over issues such as abortion, gay rights and gun control are beginning to take its toll,” Brown said of Giuliani.

One possibility: “leadership qualities” might trump issues, but Thompson is exciting people enough to deflate some of the value of Rudy’s intangible leader-ishness.

his lead in florida is 11 points, this after non stop media smears against him and 3 times as much coverage devoted to thompson, and none of it negative. giuliani has been the most negatively covered candidate in the race, mostly because of the liberal media understanding he would easily win a general election. thompson is described as ‘not even in the race’ yet recieves more coverage the last 2 months then all the other candidates on the right combined. his numbers peak the day he announces, and then after vetting he will be no match for giuliani. the fact that he hasnt surpassed rudy despite all of the smear attacks proves thompson is a light weight.

and of course the cherry picking of polls is always needed when sites like these and the mainstream media try to discredit giuliani. he has lead in the vast majority of polls. for example, the media cherry picked the far-rigth mason dixon poll to tell viewers that thompson leads rudy in south carolina, but had they looked at the average of all the recnt polls with thompson in the race, giuliani actually leads. the campaign of misinformation against rudy giuliani by the media is disgusting, and proves the media is trying to choose both candidates, taking the decision away from the american people. first, they push media creation barrack hussein to the tops in polls, at the same time cherry pick and sometimes flat out lie about rudy’s numbers to try and force the GOP to send an old, dumb, southern hack into the general rather then the candidate preferred by the vast majority, rudy giuliani.
