Yesterday I linked to Soren Dayton’s post on how the religious right may be turning on Mitt Romney. One of the indications of this move is that leading Christian fundamentalist leaders are now attacking Romney for failing, during the nine years years he was on the board at Marriott, to take action against the porn movies available via pay-per-view on the hotel chain’s televisions. Glen Johnson of the AP has the whole story, which may or may not outrage you in itself (I’m in the “not outraged” column) — what’s most notable are some of the names of those lined up to take their shots at Mitt:

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a leading conservative group in Washington, said: “They have to assume some responsibility. It’s their hotels, it’s their television sets.” …

Daniel Weiss, media analyst for James Dobson’s “Focus on the Family,” said this week in a radio broadcast to Focus members: “If (Romney) made money off pornography in the past, is he going to turn a blind eye to it if he’s president? Because as chief executive of the nation, it’s his responsibility to make sure our nation’s obscenity laws are efficiently and vigorously enforced.”

Tony Perkins and, by implication, James Dobson, are making this an issue even while — as Dayton notes — Southern Baptist Seminary President Al Mohler is telling his readers that “Mormonism is Not Christianity.”

So Romney has a porn problem, but really it’s a much bigger problem than just that.

(By the way, the AP article also mentions that Romney blamed porn for the Virginia Tech massacre, which just goes to show what a cretin he is when he’s pandering.)

[...] Porno? Cocaïne? Watergate? [...]
