You can just sense the pulsating vein in Tom Tancredo’s forehead. In an e-mail sent to supporters, Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Littleton, Colo.) attacked Senator Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) as “in the pockets” of business and “one of the most reliable pro-amnesty votes” in the U.S. Senate but campaigning against amnesty.

Tancredo’s team also alleges that Brownback is behind a series of “push calls” attacking him. In response, the Tancredo campaign is seeking money from supporters to launch radio advertisements:

In fact we are going to take our message to another level—to the airwaves! Today we are going to begin radio ads (not below-the-radar push calls) that tell the truth about the Senator’s extensive voting record in support of open borders, social security and tuition benefits for illegal aliens, and amnesty.

The money, top campaign adviser Bay Buchanan writes, will go towards “smoking out this pro-amnesty fraud.”

The original calls, which were probably from Brownback were bashing Romney and Tancredo for supporting Planned Parenthood in the past.

This shit is just hilarious. I figured for a while that Brownback would be a real player in this race. He’s got all the Christian Right bona fides, he seemed like a shoo-in for top tier. But he ain’t catching on and he ain’t raising money. And the fact that he even mentions Tom “Polling at less than 1 Percent” Tancredo’s name in his campaign shows both his utter desperation and lack of political stupidity. Who the hell would pick a fight with another candidate who is not even a factor in the race?

Lack of political stupidity? I meant overwhelming amount of political stupidity.

I think you’re quite right about that, Noah, especially since McCain is on the decline into oblivion. I figure someone like Brownback, who has (or had) an opportunity to move up, would latch onto low hanging fruit from the top tier in an attempted “coup” to replace them among the “top three.”

[...] 7. Tom Tancredo (6) — Looney Toons Tom Tancredo finished a strong fourth in the straw poll, with almost 14% of the vote — proving again that in today’s GOP, you can go a long way just by hatin’ on the brown folks. [...]
