Soren Dayton notes that, in advance of the Ames Straw Poll, the Club for Growth is going after Huckabee again. Seems they really don’t like him. Huckabee is still hurting from his earlier beating at the Club’s hands; his subsequent efforts (somewhat spotty, admittedly) to make nice with the fiscal conservatives apparently haven’t paid off.

From the Club’s site:

Club for Growth.Net is releasing a television ad … in Iowa today urging former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee to reject his tax-and-spend ways and support a ban on Internet taxes (H.R. 1077). As Governor, Mike Huckabee opposed a federal ban on Internet taxes, saying a federal ban would amount to “putting a federal stop sign onto a state road.” [...]

“Throughout his ten years as governor, Mike Huckabee has demonstrated a willingness to slap a tax increase on everything from groceries to nursing home beds,” said Club for Growth.Net President Pat Toomey. “As Congress considers legislation banning Internet taxes, we urge Huckabee to turn over a new leaf and embrace a tax-free Internet.”

The week-long ad buy totals $85,000, covering the Des Moines/Ames broadcast market and cable systems throughout the state.

Dayton says: “I think that this is going to hurt a lot. People who are still undecided and just show up are going to see this.”

Ha ha. Notice the CFG is now calling itself Club for Growth.net. Man, they are so hip and youth-y, they are like the iPhone of right-wing politics. I wonder if they know that browsers hate blank spaces.

Something to say?
