As Matt has already pointed out, Rudy Giuliani is flip–er–taking a position on immigration as a presidential candidate that differs from where he stood as mayor of New York.
2007 Rudy: “We can end illegal immigration. I promise you, we can end illegal immigration.”
1996 Rudy: “We’re never ever going to be able to totally control immigration to a country that is as large as our’s, that has borders that are as diverse as the borders of the United States.”

First, if you believe Matt did an adequate job of pointing out Rudy’s “flip-flop” you might need to either A. go back and check the definition of flip-flop or B. hire somebody to blog for you who actually knows what they’re talking about.
The video below clearly shows Mayor Giuliani, in the simplest terms possible, saying the same thing he did at Harvard, but in today’s language.
In the early 1990s, the United States government didn’t have the technological resources to effectively control illegal immigration and implement any kind of coherent border security program.
However, now we can give foreign workers and student visa holders a bio-metric ID card that will create a permanent data base of foreign nationals in the country. This not only helps define an accurate representation of a current security environment, it helps to regulate those who are able to get jobs in America as well. No longer will contractors and factory foreman be able to hire an individual and claim ignorance as to their immigration status. A bio metric ID card does all of that for them.
Moreover, strictly pertaining to border enforcement, in the 1990s, the US government didn’t have the resources available to invest in UAV drones, infrared cameras, and long-distance cameras.
This is exactly what Rudy was referring to in his Harvard speech and the video below clarifies that.
Seriously, I used to think rightsfield was a place where grown ups could come and have legitimate discussion. But it seems like your blog is just like all the rest, interested in stirring the pot and not actually interested in discussing the contents.
