I think the comments on this board reflect a change in the Republican party. It's not enough to be anti-Clinton, and negativity doesn't wear well with most Americans over the long run. As an Arkansan, I can tell you that Huckabee was able to be a fierce opponent to Democrats, while still gaining their respect by being a good and decent man. His recent momentum reflects not only the serious weaknesses in other Republicans running for the White House, but even more importantly Huckabee's ability to appeal beyond the base of the party. The rest of the current field is either targeting only conservatives (Brownback, Romney, Tancredo, Hunter) only moderates (Guiliani and McCain) or only liberatarians (Paul). Huckabee can not only make the broadest appeal, he also has the greatest personal charisma of any candidates since Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton.

Huckabee is a good man. Can he take the lead or would he be a good VP? I guess time will tell. So far I like Huckabee, but I see him more as a VP.

I think people criticizing the post are a bit misguided. The post is lampooning the knee-jerk reactionary opposition to the Clintons within what's left of the current GOP than an actual, substantive criticism of Huckabee.

I am heartened by the comments left in response to this ridiculous post. Mike Huckabee is true leader and an Authentic Christian Conservative. He will never attack anyone solely for the sake of attacking them. He is running to lead America -- not just to lead a small, angry faction of the GOP.

Good for Huckabee. It's about time we heard some respect from a Republican about his counterparts on the left, even if he doesn't agree with their policies.

And I am so sick of hearing right-wingers complain about the left equating Bush to Hitler when it's they who absurdly call Hillary "Hitlery". What are they afraid of, that Hillary's going to "force" them to treat women as equals and gays/lesbians as human beings? Oh, the horror...

Gov. Huckabee is being criticized for his authenticity and consistency in showing how Republican principles are missing the mark when they are merely ideas, and not implemented across the political spectrum? In contrast, I find that rather refreshing that a politician speaks truth to power, and wish more politicians and pundits would follow his lead!!!
I and many of my friends in Iowa haven't been this energized about a candidate since the Reagan campaigns of 1979-1987...

That is why Huckabee is such a good candidate. He will say what is needed to be said and say with conviction that even if you do not agree, you have to at least stop and think and respect the views for what they are.

Go Huck!
