Grandpa Fred Thompson is skipping this debate to announce his candidacy via web video — an unimpressive entry for a much talked up candidacy that is faltering before it even starts. (Although early reports say that Thompson announced his candidacy at a taping of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno due to air locally at 11:35pm.)

Also, your anti-immigration position has a lot to do with people coming into this country, not the rule of law. You guys could care less about the rule of law when it comes to, oh, I dunno, Scooter Libby, abortion, or anything else you disagree with.

Giuliani isn’t running on 9/11? This is news to me.
Prediction:
Since Rudy just announced that he’s not running on September 11th anymore, his answer to every question from now on will be:
“No more squeegie men! No more squeegie men! No more squeegie men! Have we not learned the lessons of no more squeegie men?”
Um, McCain, I’m pretty sure the two new Iraq reports that came out this week said the opposite of “the surge is working.” The American people need to rally Congress, not the other way around.

well noah if you had actually heard any of the mayor’s stump speeches you would realize he rarely mentions 9/11, its his opponents who are trying to define him as a one trick pony. the truth is that giuliani was more qualified on 9/10/01 to be president then the entire demobrat top tier.

Another one of Ari Fleischer’s pro-war ads just came on. He’s obviously not trying to appeal to those who have already turned against the war–most Democrats and a lot of Republicans. He’s likely trying to convince wavering Republicans not to abandon Bush. I’m doubtful it will work.

hey noah, answer me this, if hillary didn’t marry bill, would she be in this race? we know without 9/11, rudy would still be one of, if not the best, big city mayors in american history, ranking right with laguardia, which would have made him a potential candidate down the line.
