Stop me if you think you’ve heard this story before: Senator Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) says he is calling a press conference to inform voters of the next steps in his political life.

U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel’s office won’t say much about what he plans to announce Monday, just that he’ll hold a news conference in Omaha to announce a decision regarding his future.

I wonder if Hagel’s office dusted that language off a March press release when the Nebraska senator called a press conference to announce that he decided to decide later.

Rumors have it that Hagel is calling it quits but should he announce his candidacy for president, do you think the media and the GOP base will treat Hagel like they do Ron Paul, vis-a-vis the downfall of the Republican Party?

Reports suggested several months ago that Hagel was waiting to see if Fred Thompson was going to join the race — and his formal declaration yesterday makes me believe that the two are connected. The question is — does that mean Hagel will not run? Or has Thompson’s non-campaign campaign and subsequent floundering 48-hour old campaign showed signs of weakness, coupled with the fact that the GOP base is not satisfied with any of these jokes for candidates that Hagel believes he can take advantage of?

jokes for candidates? cant you even try to be unbiased. your two frontrunners are the ex presidents wife and a guy who has 3 years in the senate who wants to bomb pakistan, hang out with castro, and thinks canada has a president!!! thats it! thats the best your party came up with. geez orteeeega, comparing them to the greatest nyc mayor in history, a war hero with 30+ years in the senate, an arkansas governor(sound familiar), as well as a 2-term senator from tennessee who has more charisma in his pinky then your frontrunner has had in her whole life, its really hard to see how you can compare your light-weight, learn-as-they-go candidates. show a little respect to these guys, since one of them will be your next president.

matt, if a Democrat becomes president, would you disappear from this site? Something tells me that you would. Not that I wish you would, I’d love to hear your thoughts about President-elect Obama or President-elect Edwards, I just assume you dish out way more than you could handle if one of them “Demosocialists” as you call them becomes president.

Also, nobody said this site was unbiased.

But I know you’re totally objective yourself, aren’t ya?

no im not unbiased, but i still look at hillary as formidable. i dont call her a joke just because her resume is one. the propogandists at this site cant just admit that rudy is a general election nightmare for them. they just act like whoever the liberals annoint will just cake walk to the presidency. news flash fellas: it aint gonna happen.

i find it really funny that you didnt include president-elect clinton in your list, considering she has the most cash on hand, biggest orgaination, and a 20+ point lead in the polls. this means you are one of those gary hart-bill bradley liberals who doesnt realize that the centrists always win your primary.

I hope Hagel jumps in the race for President. He is a much more serious candidate than Ron Paul, and would make a great candidate in the general election.

Something to say?
