What’s good for the goose is good for the gander:

A Roman Catholic archbishop is threatening to deny Holy Communion to Rudolph W. Giuliani over his support for abortion rights, spotlighting the former New York City mayor’s break from his church — and his political party — on an issue of crucial importance to both.

St. Louis Archbishop Raymond L. Burke’s comments threatened to reignite an issue that could prove troublesome for Giuliani among churchgoing Republicans — questions about how devoutly he practices his Catholic faith.

Archbishop Burke is, of course, the very same gentleman of the cloth who famously denied John Kerry communion during the last campaign.

I think it’s safe to say that the timing of this statement is just a bit unfortunate for Rudy, given that he’s already trying to put out a number of fires on the religious front.

Something to say?
