Mitt Romney, the former Governor of Massachusetts, had a slip of the tongue today where he was about to say Osama bin Laden’s first name when speaking of Senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois). Glen Johnson of the Associated Press reports:

“Actually, just look at what Osam — Barack Obama — said just yesterday. Barack Obama, calling on radicals, jihadists of all different types, to come together in Iraq. That is the battlefield. … It’s almost as if the Democratic contenders for president are living in fantasyland. Their idea for jihad is to retreat, and their idea for the economy is to also retreat. And in my view, both efforts are wrongheaded.” [...]

Romney was addressing a Chamber of Commerce meeting. Spokesman Kevin Madden said: “He misspoke. He was referring to the audiotape of Osama bin Laden and misspoke. It was just a mix-up.”

In response, Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton hit Romney right between the eyes.

Obama spokesman Bill Burton said, “Apparently, Mitt Romney can switch names just as casually as he switches positions, but what’s wrongheaded is continuing a misguided war in Iraq that has left America less safe.”

Romney’s campaign says he misspoke. Right. He must have been “misholding” this sign back in July, too.

Perhaps I am just being cynical but given the recent press blitz on e-mails basically calling Senator Obama the Manchurian Candidate for terrorists, determined to destroy the country, who knows. Republicans function in interesting ways during the primary season. Romney was, in fact, in South Carolina in both instances.

O! Democrats!

Back in July I expected something from these photos, but nahhhh…

A person could get a real sense of “What’s the point?” entwined with a real sense of “What’s your point?” when it comes to media that’s supposedly even halfway fair.

Something to say?
