Maybe the GOP’s ongoing cluelessness on matters of race has something to do with the fact that the party’s elites are, not to put too fine a point on it, all a bunch of white guys.
At Mercury Rising, Phoenix Woman shares the results of DiversityInc’s recent study of each party’s presidential campaign staffs:
Yeowch. As Phoenix Woman observes, “even the least-diverse Democratic campaign, that of Joe Biden, was still twice as diverse than that of the most-diverse Republican campaign, which was John McCain’s.” Egalia of Tennessee Guerilla Women notes that Rudy Giuliani doesn’t even bother with tokens, instead “running on yesteryear’s boring All White He-Man ticket.” Hey, that’s how he governed NYC, and apparently that’s what Republicans think is the wave of the future.
Update: I just noticed that that the original story here is from June. Hot off the presses! Consider it a reminder, especially now that the GOP might be be looking to make nice with non-whites.

Noah, maybe you can explain why the democrats have denied their most loyal supporters a spot on the ticket all these years. its because the liberal party is made of rich white elitests from the northeast and west coast. they using minorities as a stepping stone while denying them their rightful place on the ticket.

Think about what you’re saying for a moment. You’re implying that it is bad to have minorities supporting you, and you are suggesting that no white people support Democrats.
Think about it.
when did i say it was bad? the majority of people who support democrats are minorities. its not bad, its just the truth. 90% of the black vote goes to the democrats, yet ZERO black candidates have been included on the major party ticket. why? the highest ranking african americans in our government’s history have been appointed by republicans, due to the democrats total lack of respect for their most loyal constituents.
don’t you feel a party that has gotten almost the entire african american population to vote for them should have mustered at least 1 major black candidate? it took until 2008 for one to be considered ‘good, and clean’ enough in the words of one of your own candidates. evengelicals became for many years the most loyal republican voters, and were rewarded with evengelical nominees. when will the african americans be rewarded for their loyalty? will they have to sit and watch another rich white person receive the nomination of their party?
and when have the democrats run anything but an all-white ticket? to think african americans have to be insulted by accepting bill clinton as the ‘first black’ president. this is how the democrats treat their most loyal supporters. disgusting.

if anyone can point to the democrat ticket that had an african american on it for president or vice president i would love to see it. 90% of the black vote and still the democrats refuse to put them on the ticket, tragic.
