(UPDATE by Dave) So NBC has called it for McCain. Let me be contrarian and say that this is good news for Mike Huckabee. Romney is fatally wounded (sorry, Tagg!) and the road to the nomination still goes through South Carolina, where Huckabee is 20 points up and didn’t hurt himself tonight. Plus Huckabee is leading in Florida and Giuliani is back in fourth (and anyway, Giuliani’s done; he actually competed in New Hampshire and got crushed). I still think Huckabee’s the money bet.

haha actually i’m laughing at all of you morons who don’t see what really happened. before rudy pulled money from NH he and mccain were splitting the independents, giving mitt first place. by backing out of NH, rudy has ended the romney campaign by proxy. now mccain with no money and huck with no money are left to face rudy in a 22 state national primary. and the latest insider florida poll: rudy 24 huck 19. looks like the late state strategy wasn’t so bad after all, idiots.
poor little noah. he thinks the broke baptist minister is going to stop rudy in california, illinois, new york, new jersey, ohio, pa, etc. LOL sorry noah, but the rudy strategy in the early states was clear: hurt romney. by backing off NH and letting mccain take romney down, rudy just guaranteed himself hundreds of delegates on super tuesday. the rebirth of hillary doesn’t hurt him either. silly noah, can’t see but whats right in front of his face. open your eyes moron, romney losing early with no clear frontrunner in the early states was EXACTLY what the rudy camp said they needed, and they said it 6 months ago. sure, they went after NH when mccain was rumored to be getting out over the summer, but when he bounced back they decided rather then going all in and finishing second to mitt they would rather mitt lose. rudy wins by proxy, and florida looks more and more in the bag. at this point the worse case scenario for rudy is VP on a mccain ticket. how did hopes and dreams obama do tonight ahahahahhahahahahahahah????!?!?!?!?!
mccain does great in head-to-head matchups, beating hillary in a number of swing states and overall. rudy could easily ride to the VP on mccain’s coattails, and run in 4 years as vice president, as mccain has indicated he will likely only serve one term. thats only if mccain can beat rudy on super tuesday, and with romney tanking and rudy leading florida, its still rudy’s to lose.
that is one idea, but mccain has always said he would want someone who underscores his strengths rather then someone who is opposite. it won’t be huck, he fiscal cons hate. mccain despises romney. rudy underscores mccain’s national security cred, and brings great success in executive office to the ticket. plus, mccain has a tough time running campaigns. he needs someone who can raise many and organization. tim pawlenty can’t do that. huckleberry can’t. rudy can. there have already been signs of the two coming together, and rudy pulling back in NH is really the single reason mccain won. had rudy stayed in NH, they split independents like they were in polls all year, and mitt wins.
plus, against hillary or obama, mccain’s big trump card will be experience and national security and rudy underscores that strength.
