As much as we like to stay focused on the current, roller coaster ride of a primary we have going on here, sometimes it helps to stop and remember that our current president, George W. Bush is still very relevant (we wouldn’t want to hurt his feelings and make him cry, now would we?).
Aboard Air Force One today, when asked about his thoughts on the New Hampshire primary results, G Dub thrilled reporters with his usual penetrating political analysis, declaring, brilliantly, “This is how it goes: you win some, you lose some.” But what was most notable about the goings on aboard Air Force Numero Uno Super Duper Awesome (as Bush likes to call it) was what White House press spokeswoman Dana Perino said:
Perino wouldn’t comment on his reaction to specific candidates. She says he has remained “studiously neutral” but “supports all of the Republicans.”
“Once we have a named candidate,” Perino adds, “You will see this president campaign for them vigorously.”
Whoa now. Slow down, Dana. Have you asked John, Mike, Mitt, Freddie, Duncan, Ron or Alan (am I forgetting anyone?) about that?
Once the right’s field does winnow down to one lucky stud, I would be willing to bet money, and lots of it, on him making it a top priority to steer very clear of the man with a 24 percent approval rating.
